George Soros and the Dilemma of the Open Society Foundations

Governments by their very nature are imposing and domineering entities. They have to be powerful and strong if they want to maintain control over the people they rule. Believe it or not, all governments (including the U.S.) have a tendency to encroach into the lives of their citizens. This is not an intentional act (well in most cases) it is just something that must be done as a ruling entity.

Democratic financier George Soros understands the role that government plays in the lives of people. He also knows how dangerous a government can be when they are overstepping their authority. Keep in mind that some governments intentionally set themselves up to be tyrannical entities. Soros learned this first hand in Hungary when he was a young teen. Read this story at Politico.com about George Soros.

Back in 1942, Adolph Hitler and his Nazi Regime had taken over Hungary. Once the Nazi’s were in charge they systematically began to eliminate the Jewish people in that area. Soros’ father had devised a scheme that kept his family free from the death camps but they lived in constant danger since they were Jewish.

This time period of Soros’s life taught him the importance of sound government. A nation needs a dependable government for the people to live peaceful lives. They also need a good governmental system that will allow them to live out their lives with the most opportunity and to the best of their ability.

The United States has a unique form of government that does not make it easy for tyrants and one political ideology to rule. This is necessary for maintaining order and keeping shady politicians, ambitious political figures and unethical political organizations from seizing control of the U.S.

While the Constitution protects the people, there are still U.S. government institutions that can undermine this country. Also added to this problem is the fact that various political and social organizations can wreak havoc over different segments of the U.S. populations.

Once again, George Soros understands this reality all too well. This is one of the reasons why he created the Open Society Foundations (OSF) which is his grant giving organization. Soros uses the OSF to make donations to organizations that need his funding to continue their operations.

Many of the groups that Soros supports are liberal outfits that are aligned with his ideology. In some instances, he doesn’t even agree with the organizations that he supports but he understands that they are necessary for helping to maintain a healthy and balanced society.

George Soros supports the NAACP, The National Council of La Raza, The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the American Institute for Social Justice. These are just a few of the many different organizations that Soros knows to be useful for helping to keep the government in check.
